DANVILLE, Va. — The Danville Otterbots and the Tri-State Coal Cats met for the first time this season and the Coal Cats stomped over the Otterbots in this contest, handing the Otterbots their first loss at home since June 16th by the score of 9-2.
The Coal Cats came out firing in the first three innings, scoring four runs. Jorge Gonzalez set the tone for the remainder of the game with a 372-foot home run. After that, the Coal Cats did not look back.
Kenyon Collins had a great outing today for the Coal Cats, as the Otterbots could not touch him. He went five innings, only gave up one run on three hits and had three strikeouts.
The Otterbots' lone star was Addison Smith, who went 2-for-3 with a run batted in. His two hits were the only source of offense for the Bots in this contest against Tri-State.
The Bots' pitching staff walked too many batters and did not strike out nearly as many. Danville manager Mickey Tettleton preaches, "You can not defend walks." The Otterbots walked seven batters on Thursday and only struck out five.
These two teams will play Friday in the series finale of this two-game series. The pre-game show will start at 6:15 p.m. and the first pitch will be at 7 p.m. You can watch the game live on Pixellot TV.
