The Kingsport Axmen beat the Bristol State Liners by a final score of 4-2 in a seven-inning Sunday game.

Ian Riley crossed home plate on a Sam Petersen RBI double to open up the scoring in the bottom of the first.

Bristol (5-18) tied the game up in the top of the second inning on a passed ball.

No other runs were scored until the bottom of the fifth when the Axmen (18-5) tallied three runs. Petersen hit his second double of the evening to score home Riley and Nate Anderson. The other run came on a Corbin Shaw RBI single which scored Petersen. Riley is now on a 16-game on-base streak and Anderson has an 18-game streak of his own.

The State Liners scored one run in the top of the sixth, but that would be the last run they scored.

The Axmen have allowed five runs or fewer in each of their first six games against Bristol (all Kingsport wins).

Axmen reliever Walker Trusley (2-0, 5.40 ERA) picked up his second win out of the bullpen and also turned a double play on a comeback bunt.

Kingsport has the day off on Monday and will take on the Danville Otterbots at Hunter Wright Stadium on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
