Logan Sutter Johnson City Player of the Year

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Johnson City Doughboys player Logan Sutter has been named Appalachian League Player of the Year for the 2023 season. The award comes in Sutter’s dominating performance all year. As a batter, his season average was .363 with 48 RBIs, and 50 hits, including nine home runs. As a pitcher, he threw 11 innings with a perfect 0.00 ERA and 13 strikeouts. Sutter’s performance led to his participation in the 2023 Appalachian League All Star Game and Home Run Derby before helping Johnson City en route to the 2023 league championship.

“Logan was a critical part of the success of the Doughboys this summer,” said Johnson City Doughboys manager Kevin Mahoney. “When we needed a big hit, he delivered consistently. His bat was a constant threat and his ability to drive the baseball and drive runs in are tremendous. I am very proud of Logan’s accomplishments this season, and the type of leadership and character he brought to our team. He has a bright future ahead of him and I look forward to watching this young man continue to grow as a player and a person.”

Sutter was born in Rocklin, Calif., and had eight home runs and 57 RBIs in 47 games played last season for Folsom Lake College.
