The Kingsport Axmen crushed the Elizabethton River Riders, 10-3, on Wednesday night.

Kingsport (27-13) won seven of ten games against Elizabethton in the completed season series. The Axmen had the bats going early, as they took a 3-0 lead after the first inning. Corbin Shaw singled home Nate Anderson, Kyle Booker hit an RBI groundout to score Sam Petersen and Gunner Gouldsmith singled home Ian Riley.

The River Riders (19-21) and Axmen both scored two runs in the third inning to make it a 5-2 game.

Kingsport blew the game open after scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Shaw and Booker hit back-to-back RBI triples. Booker and Shaw both recorded two hits and two RBI.

After scoreless fifth and sixth innings, Elizabethton scored one run in the seventh, but that would be their last run scored.

The Axmen scored two more insurance runs in the bottom of the eight to gain a seven-run advantage, their largest of the game. Riley singled home Anderson and Mayes White scored on a passed ball.

Kingsport reliever Walker Trusley (3-0, 3.00 ERA) picked up his third win of the season out of the bullpen. Trusley pitched four innings, allowed one unearned run and struck out four batters.

The Axmen now head to Princeton for a two-game series against the Whistlepigs.
