Kingsport clobbers Pulaski to remain undefeated

The Kingsport Axmen crushed the Pulaski River Turtles by a final score of 13-3 Monday night at Hunter Wright Stadium.

The Axmen (5-0) scored four runs in the first inning, three in the third and six runs in the seventh inning. Pulaski (1-3) scored just one run in the fourth, sixth and eighth inning.

Kingsport batters combined for 18 hits and four different Axmen hitters recorded three hits on the night (White, Hunter, Perry and Fernandez).

Every player in the Kingsport lineup scored a run and eight of the nine hitters batted in a run. The Axmen went 9-for-22 (.409 BA) with runners in scoring position, while the River Turtles went 0-for-8 at the plate with RISP.

The starting pitcher for the Axmen, Evan Demurias, threw six innings, surrendered two hits, four walks, two runs and recorded the win. Demurias is the first Axmen starter to get a win this season.

Tomorrow night, the Axmen host the River Turtles in the final game of the two-game series.
