JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — The Bristol State Liners capped their weekend with a commanding 7–2, series-ending win over the Pulaski River Turtles in seven innings on Sunday night, powered by an early offense.
Bristol jumped out fast in the bottom of the first. After a single from Prince DeBoskie and a walk from Patrick Gillen, Elijah Alexander delivered a three-run homer to right, giving the State Liners a 3-0 lead. Moments later, Jaxon Walker tacked on an RBI single to make it 4-0.
In the fourth, Jean Carlos Garcia-Chicano’s sacrifice fly brought in Cole Young and was followed by a two-RBI double from Gillen that extended the Bristol lead to 7-0.
On the mound, Brandon Peterson was dominant early, striking out five before exiting with a leg injury in the fourth. Alex Sotiropoulos and Charlie Atkinson handled relief duties, with Atkinson closing the door with two strikeouts in the seventh.
Pulaski managed to scratch across a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth innings but couldn’t keep pace with Bristol’s early offensive outburst.
With the win, the State Liners improved their record to 6-4 and continue to be a contender for the Appalachian League Championship in August. The State Liners begin their series against the Johnson City Doughboys at 7 p.m. Tuesday at TVA Credit Union Ballpark.
