Kingsport Axmen announce 2022 All-Star selections

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The Appalachian League has announced its rosters for the second annual All-Star Game taking place Tuesday, July 26, at Burlington Athletic Stadium in Burlington, N.C. The game is presented by Visit Alamance, and will feature 44 of the league’s top players. Selections were made the league’s managers.

The players representing Kingsport as starters are pitcher Ryan Murphy (James Madison), catcher Henry Hunter (UAB), infielder Jake Perry (Minnesota), outfielder Ian Riley (Dallas Baptist) and outfielder Nate Anderson (Gardner-Webb). Pitcher Matt Cornelius (Pima Community College) was also selected.

“I am thrilled for these guys to be announced as 2022 Appalachian League All-Stars. This is a huge honor for them individually and for our organization as a whole, especially to be sending multiple players to the All-Star Game,” Kingsport Axmen general manager Logan Davis. “They have worked extremely hard all summer long and it is paying off for our team. I am glad they get a chance to be honored and showcased on such a significant stage.”

All-Star game festivities begin Monday, July 25, with a Fan Fest and Skills Competition.
