
KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Kingsport shut out Bristol behind a dominant outing on both sides of the ball, pulling away late to secure a 10-0 victory in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Bristol put two runners aboard in the first inning with back-to-back singles from Collin Dobson and Hayden Blair, but a groundout ended the threat. Kingsport opened the scoring in the third, aided by a throwing error at third.
Kingsport broke the game open in the fifth inning with back-to-back doubles, loading the bases and delivering a two-run single. An RBI double pushed Kingsport’s lead to 5-0.
A huge bottom of the eighth saw Kingsport plate five more runs. They knocked in two with a single, followed by three more runs. A pair of wild pitches and walks helped extend the rally.
Despite a few scattered hits, including two from Blair, Bristol couldn’t piece together a sustained offense. They grounded into two double plays and struck out eight times.
Bristol looks to bounce back Friday night against the Axmen for game two at 7:00 pm at Hunter Wright Stadium.
