The Danville Otterbots and the Tri-State Coal Cats played in an exciting series finale on Friday. The ballgame would go to sudden death and the Coal Cats would successfully stop the Otterbots from scoring to earn the win and sweep the Danville Otterbots. For the first time this season, the Otterbots have been swept at home.

The Otterbots had an early lead in this matchup but credit the Coal Cats for scoring six runs in the last four innings to give them the push they needed to win. Both pitching staffs combined for twenty strikeouts with each staff getting ten apiece.

There was a lot to unpack in this game as the Otterbots fell silent for the remainder of the game after taking a 5-2 lead in the fourth. The Coal Cats found a way to get back into the ballgame.

Since the game went to sudden death, no pitcher got the win. Both Mason Hatcher and David Stitch got blown saves. That is why no one gets the win and no one gets a loss in this game.

Callan Moss in this game played a big role in this game for Otterbots as he had four RBIs for the Bots, going 2-for-4 and had the 102.5 WBTM big hit of the ballgame for the Bots in the fourth as he cleared the bases in the fourth inning to give the Bots the 5-2 lead.

Overall the Bots shot themselves in the foot giving up six runs in the last four innings. But they can use this series to learn and grow from these games.

The Otterbots will welcome Greeneville for three games at Dan Daniel Memorial Park. They play a doubleheader on Saturday to make up a game from the beginning of the season and a seven-special on Sunday. You can watch all the games on Pixellot TV, with the pre-game show starting at 4:15 p.m. and the first pitch at 5 p.m.
