The Danville Otterbots and the Burlington Sock Puppets played the final 2024 regular season game at Dan Daniel Memorial Park. The Otterbots scored five runs in the first two innings, which decided the ballgame as the Bots built some momentum for the playoffs with a 5-0 victory.
The pitching staff for the Bots did a great job. Starter Mason Brady put up four scoreless innings of baseball with four strikeouts. After Brady walked two batters in the fifth, Shawn Scott took the mound and picked up a strikeout and double play to get out of the inning.
Scott picked up another win, his Appalachian League-leading seventh on the season. Scott has had an excellent year for the Bots, frequently delivering in big moments.
Callan Moss was the Otterbots' Player of the Game. He provided two hits, one of which was a 367-foot blast in the second inning that sealed the deal for the Bots. Moss went 2-for-4 with four RBI.
These two teams will meet again Thursday in the East Championship game. The Otterbots are in the playoffs for the first time and will look to knock off the Sock Puppets. You can catch the action on Pixellot TV. The first pitch is set for 7 p.m.
