DANVILLE, Va. - The sun shone brightly on American Legion Field to the relief of the fans in attendance for City of Danville Night. First pitch was undisturbed between the Bots and the Greeneville Flyboys on Thursday night.

However, Danville’s offense looked disturbed. The Otterbots' only hit for the first five innings was a two-out double by second baseman Mason Pangborn en route to a 4-0 loss to the Flyboys.

The Bots left seven men on base. The Flyboys left eight, but they also scored four runs. They scored on two two-run singles: one in the sixth by left fielder Grant Hunter, and one in the ninth by catcher Brady Fransisco.

Danville starting pitcher Matt Spada had a great outing, throwing 78 pitches through five innings. He only gave up two hits, walked four and struck out six.

Reliever Jack Topolski, ultimately the losing pitcher, threw one inning, giving up two hits. One of those was the first RBI single for Greeneville. Landon Lorson and Peyton Huff followed, with Huff allowing the other run-scoring hit.

Danville and Greeneville face off again Friday night, where it is Mother-Son Date Night and Video Game Night at the ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
