Otterbots take down Axmen in season opener

DANVILLE, Va. – The Danville Otterbots were victorious on opening day as they defeated the Axmen, 5-3, on Tuesday night.

The Otterbots put up three runs in the first inning as Jaxon Goldberg drove in Jackson Tyer and Callan Moss on a single to right field. The Otterbots tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning.

Raymond Ladd struck out six batters over three innings in his first start. Out of the bullpen, Alex Barger and Kyle Lewis maintained Danville's lead in tact for Kobie Cushing to lock in his first save of the season.

The Otterbots (1-0) will finish the opening series on Wednesday night against the Kingsport Axmen with the first pitch scheduled at 7 p.m.
