DANVILLE, Va. — The Danville Otterbots defeated the Greeneville Flyboys, 11-5, in the Appy League Championship game Saturday night. The Bots' six-run second inning was the championship-clinching inning.
The well-deserving Micah Dean was named playoff MVP with his back-to-back incredible performances in the East and Appy League Championship games.
Raymond Ladd was phenomenal in Saturday’s start and gave up one run in the first inning but then was locked in for the other three innings he pitched. Ladd had five strikeouts and only gave up one walk.
The Otterbots had the best overall season in franchise history this year, winning 30-plus games for the first time. They also had the best home record in franchise history, and they got the job done in Danville against the Flyboys when it mattered most Saturday night.
What an incredible season it was for the Bots. Now the countdown begins to defend the den next season.
