State Liners hold off late-inning Otterbots comeback

The Danville Otterbots and the Bristol State Liners played the series finale of a two-game set, and the State Liners were able to fend off the late-inning rally by the OItterbots to come out on the winning side, 6-5.

Bristol found some late-inning magic as they scored three runs in the seventh. The big hit of the inning came from Estanban Garcia, who delivered a double into right-center field to give the State Liners the lead in the seventh.

Callan Moss gave the Otterbots some life as he hit his first-round tripper of the season. He was one of a few bright spots for the Otterbots on Wednesday, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

As for Bristol, besides Garcia, catcher Hayden Blair also had a big offensive day for the State Liners, as he also had two hits and drove in two runs. One of his hits came off the bat at 101.2 mph.

Starter Sam Cole pitched well for the State Liners. He went five innings, only gave up two earned runs, and struck out three batters in a solid outing. Noah Palmse came in and gave up one run in the ninth but was able to shut the door on the Otterbots in the bottom of the ninth and picked up two strikeouts as well.

As for what is next for both teams, Bristol will be at home and play in Greeneville, hosting the Burlington Sock Puppets for a two-game series. The Otterbots will remain home, welcoming Elizabethton for a two-game home series. All games are streaming on Pixelot TV.
