HUNTINGTON, W. Va. — The Tri-State Coal Cats encountered another lightning suspension Thursday night, halting their contest against the Danville Otterbots during the third game of a six-game homestand at Jack Cook Field. The game, part of a four-game series, was paused with the score tied at 0-0 after six innings and will resume Friday at 5 p.m. ET, followed by the regularly scheduled game.

Both teams leaned heavily on their pitching in a defensive struggle. For Danville, starter Brandon Jung delivered five dominant innings, striking out six without allowing a run. Michael Daniel followed with a single inning of relief, striking out three.

The Coal Cats countered with Bryant Yoak, who turned in three scoreless innings and struck out six in a stellar outing. Noah LaFine took over in relief, adding three strikeouts in two innings. Alberto Duran made his Appalachian League debut with an exceptional inning, picking up a strikeout to round out the Coal Cats’ night on the mound.

Tri-State (7-10) and Danville (5-13) both struggled to generate offense, combining for only three hits before the suspension. The Cats will look to conclude the suspended game on a high note before turning their attention to the regularly scheduled matchup later Friday evening.
