DANVILLE, Va. — It's Super Regionals time for the 2025 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. This round has had it all, including some unexpected upsets.

On Saturday, the 13th-seeded Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (or “Chants”) took down the fourth-seeded Auburn Tigers to advance to the College World Series. It was March Madness in June.

Two of those Chants may stand out: Blake Barthol and Dean Mihos were members of the 2023 Danville Otterbots.

Barthol is in his junior season with Coastal and has a .279 batting average on the year. The infielder secured two hits in the first game against Auburn in the regional final.

Mihos, also an infielder in his junior season, only has two errors all season. He has a .318 average in 170 at-bats.

While the two former Otterbots serve their roles at the next level, the 2025 club just played — and won — their first home game last night. Despite beginning the season 0-3, they returned home and gathered momentum to improve to 1-3 and bolster their title defense.
