DANVILLE, Va. -- Danville Baseball announced the addition of Matt Mclaughlin as the organization’s new general manager. McLaughlin, who has had a 20-year career in MiLB with the Bowie (now Chesapeake) Baysox, will oversee both the Otterbots in the Appalachian League as well as the Dairy Daddies in the Old North State League.
“Matt is bringing an incredible amount of experience to Danville,” team president Anderson Rathbun said. “He is always looking for ways to impact the community he lives in and will always make sure the team here is an asset to the Danville/Pittsylvania County market.”
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Matt McLaughlin was raised in Maryland before attending Xavier in Cincinnati. McLaughlin spent the last 17 years as Director of Corporate Partnerships of the Bowie Baysox, where he had more than 80 percent retention among partners of the team.
Outside of work, Matt is a huge fan of Xavier basketball, as well as the Washington Capitals and Baltimore Orioles (he is also a recovering Washington Commanders fan). He is also a Level 5 Certified USA Hockey coach.
