DANVILLE, Va. — The Danville Otterbots and the Burlington Sock Puppets are in the midst of a four-game game (home, away, home, away) series. In the second game of the series, the Burlington Sock Puppets made a late push but the comeback stalled as the Otterbots hung on to win by a score of 10-9.

The Otterbots had all ten runs come early in the ball game as they got started by a Callan Moss bomb to put the Ottebrots up 2-0 early. Micah Dean also launched a ball over the wall in the second inning.

In the third inning, the Otterbots broke things open by scoring seven runs on eight hits to put them up 10-4. In that inning, there were multiple hits with two outs to keep the rally alive. Charlie Carter had a big hit in the third inning and Carrington Aaron had two hits.

The Sock Puppets chipped away at the lead and eventually had the tying runner on third and the go-ahead runner on second. However, they could not score to tie or take the lead in the ninth as Garret Hodges closed the door on the ballgame.

Along with the two home runs by the Bots, Callan Moss was a triple away from the cycle, going 3-for-4 in the game with three RBIs. Charlie Carter had a big two-out single that brought home two runs as well. He went 1-for-4 in the game.

The pitching staff of the Otterbots came up clutch when they needed to in the ball game. While the runs may have scored, the pitching staff struck out seventeen batters and only walked four guys.

Every single Otterbots hitter got a hit in Wednesday’s matchup. In total, the Otterbots had ten runs on fifteen hits and one error in the game. The Sock Puppets had nine runs on twelve hits and no errors in the ball game.

This series will continue on Thursday for a July 4th showdown at Burlington with the first pitch at 7 p.m. on Pixellot TV.
