DANVILLE, Va. — The Danville Otterbots and the Burlington Sock Puppets finished up a four-game series in Danville, Virginia. The Otterbots brought the fireworks in the third, scoring five runs en route to a 5-1 victory.

It was a pitcher's duel between the ball clubs, as the pitching staffs for both teams combined for thirty-one strikeouts in the game. But the Otterbots did a better job keeping the Sock Puppets off the base paths.

Micah Dean delivered the big hit of the ball game. In the third inning, he hit a base-clearing three-run double that was the nail in the coffin for the Sock Puppets. Dean went 1-for-4 in the ball game with the game-changing hit in the third.

The Otterbots' pitching staff had five different pitchers, and they were dominant. They allowed just two hits and struck out sixteen Sock Puppets. The Bots scored five runs on seven hits and two errors, and the Sock Puppets scored one run on two hits and two errors.

The Otterbots will play a weekend series against Johnson City, while the Sock Puppets will play Pulaski this weekend. All games are streaming on Pixellot TV, with Saturday's game at 7 p.m. and Sunday's seven-inning matchup beginning at 5:30 p.m.
