DANVILLE, Va. — The Otterbots rode a big eighth inning to a 7-2 victory over the Doughboys at Dan Daniel Memorial Park on Saturday night.
The Otterbots’ pitching staff, which has been fantastic all year, was able to limit the walks in this one and hold its opponents to two runs or fewer once again.
Pitcher James Guyette was flawless and picked up six strikeouts in two innings of work. Raymond Ladd got his first hold of the year as he threw two great innings of ball, while Kolbie Cushing collected his Appy League-leading sixth save of the year.
On the offensive side, two Bots players had multiple runs batted in as Callan Moss delivered a single into right-center field to extend the Bots’ lead in the sixth inning, 4-2. Cole Johnson delivered the big hit of the ball game that put the nail in the coffin as he poked the ball into right-center field and drove in two runs to make the game 7-2.
Up next, these two teams will play Sunday in a seven-inning contest. The broadcast will start at 4:45 p.m. and you can tune in on Pixellot TV.
