DANVILLE, Va. — The Danville Otterbots survived a late comeback attempt by the Johnson City Doughboys to take an 8-6 win Sunday.

It was an all-around effort for the offense of the Otterbots as they racked up seven hits on the day. A lot of their plate appearances were long battles that helped the Bots win the ball game. The seven runs scored in the first two innings proved to be enough for the Bots in this one.

Alex Conover and Micah Dean led the way offensively for the Otterbots as Dean had the most runs batted in with two and Alex Conover hit a home run in the sixth inning that went 391 feet to give the Bots insurance in the seventh.

On the mound, Kolbie Cuching got the win in this contest and Garret Hodges picked up the save on just four pitches thrown in the seventh frame, good for his fourth save of the summer.

Up next, the Otterbots will have a tough stretch here as they have thirteen games in the next fourteen days. They have an off-day Monday and then travel to Bluefield for a battle of the top two teams in the East Division. As for the Doughboys, They will be home against Tri-State. You can catch all the games live on Pixellot TV.
