DANVILLE, Va. — The Pulaski River Turtles and the Danville Otterbots played in the series finale of a two-game series. It was a seven-inning Sunday special as the Otterbots launched two home runs in a 5-1 victory that vaulted Danville to first place in the East division.

The two players that launched roundtripper for the Otterbots were Micah Dean and Cole Johnson. Dean launched his first home run of the season in the second inning. He got a fastball that he did not miss as he sent it three-quarters of the way up the scoreboard in left field for a 392-foot bomb.

Cole Johnson got his second home run of the season in the sixth inning as he went opposite field for a 393-foot home run that put the nail in the coffin for the Otterbots victory.

The Otterbots' pitching staff showed up in this game, collecting fourteen strikeouts. Kyle Lewis collected five strikeouts in his appearance and got the win, moving his record to 4-0. He leads the Appalachian League in wins.

With the Otterbots taking over first place, they will travel to Burlington, who they just passed in the standings, for a two-game series starting Tuesday. The Otterbots will look to extend their lead in the East division and add some cushion in first place.

As for the River Turtles, they will go back home for a two-game series against Johnson City. You can watch all the games on Pixellot TV.
