The Danville Otterbots' pitching staff struck out 17 Bluefield Ridge Runners in the series finale to win their matchup, 2-1. The Otterbots' pitching staff has been great all season and continues to show why they are the best in the Appalachian League.

Pitcher Carter Holjes made his Otterbot debut against Bluefield. After relieving starter Cyle Phelan, Holjes struck out five batters in the two innings he pitched. Cyle Phelan and Derek Duval combined for eleven strikeouts in the game.

Holjes picked up the win in his first outing for Danville. With a win and a Burlington loss, the Otterbots stretched their first-place lead by a game and a half in the East Division.

Jackson Tyer and Addison Smith led the way offensively for the Otterbots, collecting two hits each and an RBI.

Up next, the Ridge Runners will host the Burlington Sock Puppets for a weekend series. The Otterbots will be on the road at Pulaski and will have a chance to extend their first-place lead. You can watch all the games for free on Pixellot TV.
