DANVILLE, Va. — The Pulaski River Turtles and the Danville Otterbots played in the series finale of a two-game series. It was a seven-inning Sunday sudden death special as the River Turtles were able to score the runner from first to win in sudden death. The score heading into sudden death was 0-0.

For those of you who don't know what sudden death is, one-half inning is played and one team is on defense and the offensive team gets a runner on first. If the defensive team can collect three outs they win and if the runner from first scores, the offensive team wins.

It was a Callan Moss error that allowed the runner Kevin Jones to score the winning run in sudden death. Overall in the game, both offenses combined for a total of five hits in what was a completely different game from Saturday's contest. The Otterbots have split every series so far in their season as they have yet to sweep a series or be swept.

The pitching today for both squads was great as they only allowed five total hits in the game. Otterbots pitching staff tallied up 11 strikeouts on the day. Russ Sandafer had another great start as he went three innings, gave two hits, no runs, one walk and four strikeouts. He lowered his season-earned run average to 1.00.

As for what is next for these two teams, the Otterbots have an off day tomorrow. They will travel to Elizabethton for a two-game series and play a doubleheader the following day against Bristol.

As for the River Turtles, they will have an off day tomorrow and will have a four-game homestand against both Bristol and Greeneville. You can watch all games on Pixellot TV or each respective team's website for an audio-only stream.
