More than 100 former E-Twins players have made it to the Big Leagues. Elizabethton is known for its winning tradition as the E-Twins won 11 Appalachian League Titles.

The combination of winning seasons, a strong fan base, and dozens of former Major League stars that began their career in Elizabethton has made Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark a great Minor League attraction. This great success has seen dozens of Major League players have passed through Elizabethton on their way to the Big Leagues. Most notable alumni include Kirby Puckett, Kent Hrbek, A.J. Pierzynski, Justin Morneau, Joe Mauer, Brian Dozer, Max Kepler, Miguel Sano, Byron Buxton, Jorge Polanco. More than 120 former Elizabethton Twins players made it the majors, and Jordan Leasure became the first Elizabethton River Rider to reach the Major Leagues when he made the 2024 Chicago White Sox Opening Day roster.

Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark, the home of the Elizabethton Twins/River Riders since 1974, sits majestically along the banks of the Watauga River. This historic stadium provides a wonderful setting for a baseball stadium as the Appalachian Mountains can be viewed in the distance.

Local landmarks include Sycamore Shoals State Park where the first permanent European settlers arrived in 1770 and established the Watauga Association one of the first written constitutional governments west of the Appalachian Mountains in 1772. Another local landmark is the Covered Bridge, a great visitor's attraction found in the business district of Elizabethton.
