CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Appalachian League announced the Greeneville Flyboys as the 2026 Organization of the Year. The award is given to the club that exemplifies the standards of the complete baseball franchise based upon franchise stability, contributions to the league stability, contributions to baseball in the community and promotion of the baseball industry.
“We are incredibly honored to be awarded the 2026 Appalachian League Organization of the Year,” Flyboys general manager Brandon Bouschart said. “This award highlights the hard work and long hours our staff puts in to make the Greeneville Flyboys organization the best in the league.”
The Flyboys made significant changes during the 2026 season that set the stage for the future, beginning with securing its first-ever stadium naming rights partnership with Eastman Credit Union. The partnership has paved the way for major improvements for the Flyboys organization, Tusculum University and the Greeneville community.
At Eastman Credit Union Field, the Flyboys implemented changes aimed at improving the fan experience, including a new ticket platform, upgrades in concessions product offerings and moving to cashless transactions. The changes led to gate, concessions, beer and merchandise lines moving significantly more quickly than in years past, allowing fans to spend less time in line and more time enjoying the Flyboys experience.
The Flyboys took promotions to the next level in 2026 with new theme nights, specialty jerseys and constant on-field entertainment highlighted by unique in-game promotions. The team more than doubled its number of giveaways from the 2025 campaign, giving its fans the chance to secure four different t-shirts, a Flyboys-themed soccer jersey, a Jack Wilson bobblehead and more. On July 4, the Flyboys wore specialty America 250 jerseys, received the game ball via helicopter from the Highlands Emergency Air Rescue squad and capped the evening with the biggest fireworks show of the season, welcoming a massive crowd of 4,652.
Off the field, the Flyboys also went above and beyond with community outreach and service in 2026. The team more than doubled their community service hours compared to 2025, with more than 640 total volunteer hours logged in 2026. Showcasing their commitment to the community and their focus on creating unique fan experiences, the club partnered with the United Way of Greene County and the David Crockett Birthplace State Park to debut a one-of-a-kind Davy Crockett-themed jersey. The night featured axe throwing, black powder rifle salutes, Davy Crockett reenactors, a horse-led color guard and fireworks. The event was aimed at raising donations and driving continued awareness for recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene’s destruction of the state park.
On Friday, Sept. 11, the Flyboys hosted a 9/11 Memorial Star Climb at Eastman Credit Union Field, welcoming more than 200 community members to honor and recognize the lives lost in 2001. The event, completed in partnership with Tusculum University, saw participants climb 2,200 stairs each to memorialize the victims of Sept. 11.
This is the second Appalachian League Organization of the Year Award for the Greeneville Flyboys, who also received the honor in 2024.
