CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The Appalachian League announced that Johnson City’s Nate Eisfelder (Indiana) and Jayce Rollins (Florida Southern) were named Player and Pitcher of the Month, respectively, for July. Both Eisfelder and Rollins were two-time recipients of Appalachian League weekly honors in July.
Eisfelder, 20, slashed .365/.520./.851 with a 1.371 OPS in July for the Doughboys, who represented the Appalachian League West Division in the 2026 playoffs. He went 27-for-74 at the plate with 10 home runs, six doubles, 33 RBI and 30 runs, collecting 63 total bases. Eisfelder drew 22 bases on balls while only striking out nine times, and was a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts. He doubled, scored a run and drove in a run in Johnson City’s loss in the division championship game.
The Jonesborough, Tenn., native received Appalachian League Player of the Week honors for the periods of July 13-19 and July 27-30. He finished the season with 11 home runs, most in the Appalachian League and most in a season in Doughboys' history. Eisfelder also led the league with 23 extra-base hits, was third in slugging percentage (.672) and OPS (1.149), fourth in RBI (41) and fifth in bases on balls (36). The outfielder played in 18 games as a freshman at Tennessee in the spring, slugging two home runs and collecting nine RBI. Eisfelder is committed to attend Indiana in the fall.
Rollins, 19, made five appearances for the Doughboys in July, including four starts. He went 3-0 during the month, including back-to-back quality starts, posting a 0.78 ERA and 1.52 WHIP. The 6-foot-6 Florida Southern righty struck out 31 across 23 innings pitched, allowing 20 hits, 15 bases on balls and holding opponents to a .238 BAA. Rollins finished the regular season second in the league in wins (four), games started (eight) and innings pitched (37.0), while finishing third in strikeouts (38) and ERA (3.16) amongst all qualified pitchers.
The San Antonio, Fla., native received back-to-back Appalachian League Pitcher of the Week honors for the periods of July 20-26 and July 27-30. Rollins threw 34.1 innings over 12 appearances as a freshman at Florida Southern this spring, totaling 30 strikeouts against just eight walks. He tallied season-high five strikeouts against Illinois Springfield on Feb. 14 and Roosevelt on March 3. The Pasco High School valedictorian was named to the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2026.
