Stars vs. Stripes Game Three Features High Scoring Battle

Game three of the Stars vs. Stripes series saw aggressive offense in high-scoring contest

Day four of 12U National Team Training Camp featured the third game of the Stars vs. Stripes Series—a series of intrasquad scrimmages serving to aid player development and the Task Force in evaluating the 36-player roster ahead of Friday’s roster announcement for the 12U National Team.

After yesterday’s low-scoring affair concluded in a 2-1 Stripes win, today’s action saw a return of offense with a high-scoring finish that was seen in the first game of the series. Today’s game saw 19 hits total and a combined 14 runs from aggressive offensive approaches.

Getting the scoring started in the first, Team Stars got baserunners on after a single from Carter Rahmatulla and a walk from Jameson Wilhite.

Later, driving in the first run of the inning was Cooper Thissen after a defensive miscue in the infield. This was followed by a ball hit into the infield for a fielder's choice, giving Stars an early 2-0 lead.

Keeping the scoring trend going, the Stripes answered back in the bottom frame to drive in their opening run of the game from a single hit by Jake Romero.

Taking advantage of back-to-back defensive miscues, the Stars were able to put up two more runs in the second inning, capped off by a Kai Sapp single to shortstop.

Grabbing two runs of their own in the bottom of the second, Stripes used a leadoff triple by Dariel Rivero to score their first run of the inning. The team ended the inning with two more runs during Nolan Hatch’s at-bat.

Picking up a three-up, three-down inning, Stripes tied the game with three straight hits. An RBI single by Ethan Wagner drove in their lone run, knotting the game at four apiece in the bottom of the third.

With an impressive five straight batters reaching base, Stars jumped out to an insurmountable lead and put up five runs. The top of the fourth was highlighted by back-to-back RBI singles hit by Davis Romejko and Hunter Sundby.

Scoring the last run of the game in the bottom of the fifth off a wild pitch, Stars wrapped up a 10-4 victory and took a 2-1 lead in the Stars vs. Stripes series.

Players at the 12U National Team Training Camp will be back in action tomorrow for the final game of the Stars vs. Stripes series.
