
The second day of action at the 18U National Team Training Camp brought more than just mid-July heat to the National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. With scouts and coaches watching closely and roster spots on the line, intensity was sky-high from the first pitch.
TEAM NAVY 1, TEAM LIGHT BLUE 0
Game one of the day turned into a showcase of elite arms, as dominant pitching performances on both sides kept the scoreboard quiet for most of the matchup. From crisp command to swing-and-miss stuff, pitchers set the tone, and only one big inning made the difference.
Team Navy edged out Team Light Blue in a 1-0 battle that featured standout outings from some of the top young arms in the country.
AS IT HAPPENED:
- The game stayed scoreless through five innings as pitchers dominated both sides.
- In the top of the fifth, Will Brick tripled to right center. Brady Harris followed with a double to left center, bringing Brick home for the game’s only run.

AS IT HAPPENED:
- Team Gray got on the board early in the top of the first. Jet Berry singled to first base and advanced to second on a wild pitch and Gio Rojas followed with a single to right field, driving in Berry for the game's first run.
- Team Red quickly answered in the bottom of the inning. Trevor Condon singled and moved to second on a wild pitch, and Trey Ebel then singled to shortstop, pushing Condon to third. Coleman Borthwick then grounded into a double play, but it was enough to bring Condon home and tie the game at 1–1.
- After Malachi Washington singled to drive in a run and put Team Red in front by a run, Gianni Corral added an RBI knock to grow the lead to 3-1.
- Rookie Shepard doubled to left-center later in the inning, scoring Corral and extending the lead to 4-1.
- In the top of the third inning, Jet Berry doubled down the left field line, scoring Dylan Seward and cutting the Team Gray deficit to 4-2.
- In the eighth inning, Taj Marchand singled up the middle and Brody Schumaker advanced to second, allowing Kingston Kela to advance to third before scoring on a fielding error. Friedberg then scored, tying up the game 4-4 before a bases-loaded walk gave Team Gray a 5-4 victory.
